Oval Cabochon Moonstone Ring.

Moonstone belongs to the mineral family Feldspars. A white luminescent crystal which shimmers when light strikes its internal structure, in subtle hues of blue, grey, pink, peach are visible, this phenomenon is known as adularescence.  The visual effect is reminiscent of the full moon shining through a veil of thin, high clouds.

Moonstone in many cultures is particularly associated with romantic love and good fortune. It is known as the stone of "New beginnings" it is strongly connected to the moon and intuition.

In India Moonstone is regarded as a scared stone and believed to be formed by moonbeams whose light fell upon the earth and solidified. Revered as symbol of the third eye, the gem was said to have been embedded in the forehead of Ganesh, the four-handed God of the moon. Moonstone is given as a traditional wedding gift as it symbolises divine feminine energy, love and harmony.

Moonstone has been used in Roman jewellery for almost two thousand years since 500 B.C. Romans believed that moonstone was created by moonlight and according to myth, it belonged to Diane, the Goddess of the moon. The wearer would receive the gift of wisdom and prosperity from the Goddess.
